Nikhil mohan Born : 1979 An architect by profession has indulged in art for many years under the influence of his grandfather Mr. Vijay Raghavan a landscape artist renowned and recognized by several prestigious organization nationwide. Meduim of work: acrylic on canvas, oil sketch paper and hand made paperdry pastels on handmade paper,mixed media comprising of Indian ink, acrylic colors and drypastels. Group Shows: Devoid of pre-conception, the lines flow into forms characterized by various nuances of colors. A space well balanced, a metamorphosis of images creates faces’ and figures’ layered with the accurate rendering of dry pastels. The media handled with efficacy and lightness, immersing into the depth of each character are sketched with a rigorous fervor, is akin to the work of several masters in the field. With no academic background, the paintings bestow a freedom less forceful and more with a veritable sense of being. Delineated, distorted faces and figures confirm the strength of each line, easily distinguished from some of the other paintings, which are comprised of poignant colors, with bold strokes, create variety in concept, and confer a diverse cadence. The figurative paintings…a more vivid insight into a lyrical, narrative style of depiction. Whereas, the landscapes, collaborated, through disintegration of borders, boundaries and barriers distribute the focus across its length and breadth. A multiplication of points of view, helps create a new way of apprehending works of art and the artistic context.
